The middle right part of the back is composed of different structures that can produce their own type of pain when injured. This portion of the back consists of significant structures which play important roles in transmitting messages via the nerves located there.
In between every vertebrae, there are discs made up of cartilage which acts as a shock absorber for any pressure that may be put into them. Tendons may also be found in the area and they help promote stabilization.
In most cases of right middle back pain, the usual cause for this is strained muscles. Usually, this may be aggravated by overworking the muscle by lifting heavy objects or by not stretching before doing exercises which may totally lead to exhaustion.
Fortunately, people who tend to have right middle back pain due to muscle strains may relieve this condition easily.
Another cause of this condition is arthritis. This is a condition where the joints of different parts of the body are inflamed. It makes moving more difficult than usual. This problem may also be naturally caused wherein when the cartilage undergoes its natural process of wear and tear, it usually affects the spine as well.
Osteoporosis may also be considered a cause for this condition. This problem is commonly seen in people who are in their early forties and becomes more visible as they age. Because this condition involves the density of bones, having this condition will only increase a person’s risk of developing fractures in the said area.
Just like any other health problems, treatment for right middle back pain depends on the cause and severity of it. The first line of treatment usually is used is advising a person to rest at home and do a heat and ice therapy for a day.
Heat and ice therapy is a procedure wherein a person alternately puts an ice pack above the area affected and after ten minutes, will replace it with a heating pad or bag. The purpose of this method is to relieve the pain and at the same time decrease inflammation.
Another treatment given by doctors if the condition is not that severe is to prescribe medications. This may also be used to diagnose a person’s case. When back pain is treated with pain killers and the pain did go away and did not occur, then the possible cause for this is strain, but when pain does not even gradually decrease, then a more serious condition may be causing it, which is why surgeries may also be suggested.
Ask a doctor about possible options for treatment, and try researching about those. Clarifying the effects and disadvantages of the given options with a doctor will help you choose the proper treatment for you. Getting a general check up will also help you and the doctor plan the best treatment for the problem.
